Open Days 2019 - EU’s Regional and Urban Policy Department

ICF Next / European Commission / 2019

The Open Doors Days are the opportunity for EU institutions to get closer to European citizens and non-European visitors of all age groups.

For the 2019 edition of event, the EU’s Regional and Urban Policy department of the European Commission wanted to create a both entertaining and informative experience, that would answer the question “what does Europe do for me (in my region)?”.

Inspired by the first edition of the Road Trip Project, we built the exhibition area around 4 themed paths. Every path (Mediterranean, Atlantic, Danube, Baltic) had its own colours and flare, and showed information about different EU-enabled regional projects.

Walking through the different paths, the visitors had the opportunity to watch, read and listen about different regional and cross-border initiatives throughout Europe, taste some regional food, and get involved in different activities and games.

Getting involved in the stand activities also meant taking part to the collective initiative of planting trees for a greener environment. Thanks to a QR-code scanning system throughout the stand activities, more than 1000 trees were counted, and will be planted at the end of the event.

Last but not least, the event has been the opportunity for the EU’s Regional and Urban Policy department of the European Commission to interact with the visitors and promote current and upcoming initiatives.
